Eleven Questions To Ask When Buying A Used Car

Thinking about buying a used car?

You will need to know what to ask the seller before you sign off and give them the money. Let’s take a look at the eleven most important questions according to seasoned experts.

1) Can I Receive the Carfax?

This is an important place to begin.

You want to have a look at the car’s record to see whether it has been an accident, where it was owned, and any other information you can get your hands on.

2) Is This Vehicle An AWD (All Wheel Drive)?

You should know how the car drives and this includes its drivetrain.

You want to know whether it is an AWD, FWD, or RWD as soon as possible.

3) Is The Car Title Under Your Name?

The last thing you want to do is purchase from someone who doesn’t have the vehicle under their name. This is a risky proposition and not something you want to deal with at all. Make sure the vehicle is legally in their name and check the documentation.

4) Has It Been Repainted or Retouched?

One of the biggest worries for a person is going to be the paint job.

Has it been done recently? Has it been retouched? You want to make sure these questions are answered, so you don’t have to think about them later on when you are driving it.

5) Do The Car’s Signals Work?

This should be a given. You need to know if all the signals work. If there is a screen inside, you should make sure that is working as well. If there are issues, they should be noted down as soon as you can get them in writing. You don’t want to overlook this.

6) Who Used This Car?

This is a good question to have if you don’t want a vehicle that was used by someone who smokes or may have had a pet.

7) How Many Keys/Remotes Come With The Car?

If you want to get a car, you may look for a spare key.

This is possible when you make sure the number of keys you have is kept in mind.

8) Does The Car Have A Spare Tire/Jack?

You don’t want to be stuck on the side of the road thinking there is a spare tire in the trunk.

Ask about whether it is in the car and where it is. This includes the jack.

9) How Old Are The Tires and Brakes?

The tires and brakes are important, and you want to be sure about their condition. Ask when they were changed and if they have documentation to prove it.

10) How Is The Detailing Inside?

The interior is where you are going to sit, so it should be in immaculate condition.

Ask about the material, how it has been kept, and anything else associated with its detailing.

11) Are There Additional Fees? (Dealers Only)

The final question is for those who are buying from a used car dealer. You want to make sure they are not tacking on fees for their service as so many dealers do. You shouldn’t have to pay for this.
